Pipeline Mechanical Testing for Offershore Field Development
North Sea
Oil & Gas
Our team was engaged in the quality assurance and mechanical testing of high-grade steel pipelines for an offshore gas and condensate development located in the North Sea. The objective was to validate the performance of 16” and 12” seamless (SMLS) X65-grade steel pipelines under extreme offshore conditions prior to installation.
Our Solution
Comprehensive Pipeline Integrity Testing
Conducted tensile tests on base material in both as-received and strained conditions.
Performed hydrostatic pressure testing to confirm weld strength and seal integrity.
Implemented impact (Charpy) testing to verify fracture toughness under dynamic loads.
Conducted hardness testing to assess resistance to wear, cracking, and long-term degradation.
Carried out corrosion testing, including ultrasonic and radiographic evaluations, to monitor material loss and wall thickness over time.
Inspection and Certification
Provided on-site supervision at the fabrication facility.
Reviewed inspection protocols and certified testing documentation in line with international offshore pipeline standards.
Key Outcomes
Validated structural integrity of the pipelines for use in harsh marine environments.
Enhanced reliability of subsea operations through rigorous pre-installation testing.
Ensured full compliance with offshore pipeline standards such as DNV and API.
